Wolves are controversial yet wonderful animals, except in rancher's opinions. Can't blame 'em. Anyway, they make wonderful scrollsaw art pieces. Below, is my grandest coffee table to date. The wood of the table is from the old Railroad Trestle which spanned the Great Salt Lake, built over 120 years ago. The colors and texture of the wood is truly awesome, as nature bears her own paintbrush on old woods. The wolves (4 of 'em, one is barely seen in the back peeking from behind a quakie, yeah, ignore the werewolf holding the table up on its side, that's just me - GRIN!), blend remarkably well in the quakies, which sort of reminds you of a Bev Doolittle painting! I didn't intend this, but will do more of this type as it has been a smash hit. I carved the snow foreground and the mountain to the side from maple. Eagles bank off the mountains as well as one coming in for a landing in the big lone pine. This is simply a magnificent heirloom for a cabin in the mountains, or to show off in your house in the city. The above photo is a close up of the central wolf with his head up high. I cut my signature into one of the quakies so you can't see it without looking really gosh doggone blasted hard! Sort of fun way to do it.....
