This trophy bull art piece has approx. 500 pieces. I mounted him in an oak coffee table which sold out of West Yellowstone, Montana, (gateway to Yellowstone Park) this year. It's a fun piece because I stained it with sunset colors. He is just coming down out of the trees with his cows and is bugling. You can almost hear his shrill whistle can't you? This is a piece I can do as a wall hanging, It is approx. 3 feet long by 2 feet tall. I can include clouds, or a sunset if desired.
The upper slab is simply grand beyond what words can tell. The slab is 5 feet long by 3 feet tall at the middle, and 6 inches thick! I carved out the mountain in the slab, have eagles on it banking in the heat of the day, and two bull elk in the rut. Their muscles bulge beneath their coats as they struggle trying to get the best of each other. I mounted Idaho ryolite stone under their feet as well as moss. What a magnificent mantle piece this would make. Approx. 350 pieces in the elk.
The elk is the premiere game animal in Idaho, at least that's what the local hunters tell me. Myself, I would rather just catch a glimpse of this mountain prince in the wild and count myself lucky! I did see a magnificent bull elk lounging in a mud wallow one fall as I was hiking for fun. It was the the most memorable experiences I ever hope to have. He lifted his magnificent rack slowly and looked at me (the interloper) and gracefully lifted himself up and was up the mountain before I could blink. Quite an experience, I can tell you. So, I really enjoy recreating this wonderful animal in wood. Perhaps you'd like one for your wall!
