Business
Logo for my good friend Paul Wallace, owner of Data Quest
Computers. I cut each of the sails, then carved them 3-D out of
curly maple. I put actual ropes on the ship, made the masts out
of dowels and carved the water. Note the detailed carved flag at
the very top on middle mast. This was a fun scrolling/carving
project. Approx. 3 1/2 feet tall.
Business logos can be cut from a variety of woods. The fun thing with these is business logos usually tend to be classy, very interesting, wonderful animals, or designs, etc. They also jazz up the business setting. The Anhauser Busch eagle I have done as a conference room plaque of 4 feet, or a personalized wall hanging, for the employees. I cannot reproduce them for the public without express written permission, so ask ahead of time and I can check.
Next, I am pictured standing with Bob Baker (he is the handsome one - GRIN!) holding the Freedom Arms logo, one of the finest I have ever cut. Freedom Arms manufactures the finest and most powerful handguns in the world. If you have never been to Freedom, Wyoming, you really ought to try to get there. The plant is nestled in the foothills of the Rockies in a lush green valley that just thrills you as you drive for hours on end through some of the most gorgeous country in the world. Bob was very pleased with the huge burl slab I mounted the griffins on. I cut the griffins out of curly maple, the name Freedom Arms out of maple mounted on curly cedar. Next to the logo I also have a desk sign. I did all the desk signs for the office personel, with the business logo right on the desk sign. Talk about one of a kind!
I usually do desk signs with the business logos with exotic and wild woods, with wavy grains, dynamite colors, etc. They are a fabulous way to liven up an office and help everyone get to know each other, as well. Those who own my desk signs have always commented on how it enhances the office prestige or helps jazz the place up. It is a rather fun and interesting way to have your name out there.
On the far right, are two plaques I made for the Idaho Classic Car Co., for their annual show in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The 20th year anniversary was the most spectacular they have ever had me make. The owner of "The Virginian" Motel in Jackson Hole, Wyo. bought and displays this one. They have have asked me to do their car show award plaques for the last 7 years. It is one of the most enjoyable things I make each year, as many hundreds of car owners always enjoy them and ask me back each year.
