Some musings I made which will be old hat to some of you, completely new to others. I will add more as I find time. This ought to at least whet your appetites for this sort of fascinating information.
Nothing much of interest lately on this front. Just found out
that not only
the Egyptian Pyramids are associated with the number 72 (because
of the
presession of the Equinoxes, but so is Camobian cities such as
Angkor Wat,
as well as some others.
Also found out that the very name in Cambodia of Angkor
correlates well with
Anhk-Hor - "May Horus Live" or something like that.
Remember Bauval's
sensational discovery that the pyramids are imitating Orions
stars in his
belt, and the rest of the area is laid out on earth as Orion is
in heaven?
Well I just read today that Angkor Wat is laid out according to
the
celestial coordinates of Draco the serpent/dragon. Not only that,
but as the
alignment of Orion at Egypt is perfectly situated with the
pyramids approx.
10,500 B.C. with the Sphinx also looking due East, as the
constellation of
Leo is directly on the Eastern horizon, but at Angkor Wat, Draco
is
precisely aligned with the lay out of all those magnificently
carved temples
and their layout, ALSO during the epoch of 10,500 B.C. No other
time frame
connects the exact alignment of celestial phenomena with
terrestrial
buildings. Astonishingly interesting stuff.
Interesting to note also that the Egyptian name for meteoritic
iron "bja"
meaning "divine metal," or literally "metal from
heaven," but that this is
almost identical to the Sanscrit word "bija" -
"semen; "bija", "seed".
Apparently bja metal in Egypt was used for rituals aimed at
gaining for
initiates the "life of millions of years" through the
escape of the soul to
the stars. This too, the escape of the soul from the always
terrible and
constantly changing cysles of births and deaths to which created
beings are
subject to, this was the ultimate objective of all religious
ritual,
meditation and scripture in ancient India.
The Egyptian obelisks with the benben stone on top are very
similar to the
lingham and yoni associated in India with Shiva and his pillar,
with his
seed on top as well. Benben in some etymological studies I have
read means
sperm or seed or something along procreative lines. Vishnu's
golden egg on
top of the pillar correlates well with the Egyptian Benben stone.
Archeo-Astronomy II
The most fascinating thing about this particular subject in
recent decades is learning truly that all the ancient major
civilizations were involved and highly interested in the sky.
Ever since the breakthrough of Giorgio Santilliana's magnificent
book "Hamlet's Mill," the information has been coming
in in steady little blip blips, until now in our day it is
becoming quite a torrent.
Anthony Aveni noted in his book "Skywatchers of Ancient
Mexico," that we cannot appreciate the significance the sky
had for the ancients. It is literally woven into every fabric of
their being, and invoked and involved, nay wed right into their
mythology, their religion, and their culture. (p. 3)
The most recent stunning book on this subject from a world-wide
perspective is Graham Hancock's book "Heaven's Mirror,"
Crown Publisher's, 1998, wherein he notes astonishing
correlations from the ancient civilizations the world over
concerning the ancient megalithic science of the Hermetic
doctrine, "As Above, So Below," which is truly
established and demonstrated in Egypt, and Cambodia, as well as
ancient Mesoamerica and into the Inca's, and as far away as the
Stonehenge monument in the British lands across the Atlantic. ALL
of these cultures built their temples of stone to mimic
constellations. ALL of these sites demonstrate that the ancients
knew about Precession of the Equinoxes! And all of them are
correlated through the numbers involved with the equinox, namely
72, 108, etc.
For instance, When we learn that the period of time of a Kali
Yuga, and the Krita Yuga, etc., of the Angkor Wat complex in
Cambodia equals 1,728,00 and another equals 1,296,000 years, and
another age equals 864,000 years, and yet another equals 432,000
years, this impresses us with the lengths of time! But when we
also learn that the measurements of the temple equals 1,728 hat
(the term of length measured on the ground), and also another
measurement equals 1,296 hat, and another is 864 hat, and finally
another equals 432 hat, we see they built this time right into
the physical structure of their temple scaled down by 1,000. (p.
150).
The numbers in the Indian scheme of world ages - 432,000 (or
432), 864,000 (or 864), 1,296,000 (or 1,296), and 1,728,000 (or
1,728), They all have one thing in common. They belong to a
sequence based on 72, an important unit of measurement also in
the MAYAN system, and dealing directly with the Precession of the
Equinoxes. The Precession moves 1 degree every 72 years. (it
takes 72 years for the sun's position on the spring equinox to
precess one degree against the background of the fixed stars). If
you divide the 432 hat dimension of Angkor's causeway by 72 you
get 6. If you divide the next dimension along the causeway, 864
hat, by 72 you get 12. If you divide 1,296 hat by 72 you get 18
and if you divide the longest dimension of 1,728 hay by 72 you
get 24. (p. 152)
As "Hamlet's Mill" so interestingly puts it, the
language of archaic myth IS astronomical. It is dealing with the
skies! Their very buildings were built to reflect the
constellations above them in the air! They correlated what was on
earth to reflect what was in heaven. This occurred not only in
Egypt, but in Cambodia, as well as the Nazca Plains in Peru, and
at Stonehenge!
The titanic megalith of Sacsayhuaman in the Peruvian Andes, the
gigantic cross on the mountain, relfected Cygnus, the Northern
Cross.Orion is depicted as the spider on the ground at Nazca,
only you CANNOT see it from the ground. It is far and away TOO
LARGE. The ONLY way to actually see any of the art at Nazca is
high above in an airplane. Yet the figures are drawn perfectly,
and they represent such constellations as Monoceros, Cancer,
Gemini, Cetus, Orion, and Ursa Major! (p. 264-267).
More interestingly still, One of the two names for Easter Island
(yes, THAT one!) is "Mata-Ki-Te-Rani" - "Eyes
Looking at Heaven. The othe name is
"Te-Pito-O-Te-Henua" - "Navel of the World."
Over 300 kilometers east of Nazca, the Inca city of Cuzco means
"Navel of the World," literally. 300 hundred kilometers
south of Nazca, on the Peruvian coast, is an ancient sea-port
called Matarani, which in Polynesian languages means literally
"The Eye of Heaven." In Egyptian the Ma'at Ra means
"The Eye of the Sun." (P. 269).
We are told in the scriptures that in the Last Days there would
be signs in the heavens. Other than meteorites, and comets, what
has been found? Something truly and utterly astonishing.
Mark Vidler in his book "The Star Mirror," (1998) has
demonstrated at extensive length that every megalithic monument
found throughout the world in ancient civilizations pointed (in
their day) to a very bright magnitude star in constellations
which are right now above us in our own skies. The fascinating
thing is that these bright stars are lined up directly above the
tallest mountain peaks in the world, and throughout the mountain
ranges of the world. The SPOOKY thing is that each and every
mountain peak which are the tallest in the range, are ALSO
aligned with the other tallest mountain peaks in that range in
isosceles triangles. And the triangles are precisely reflected in
the SAME ISOCELES TRIANGLES IN THE SKY. Each and every line of
angle on the Great Pyramid is used, 11 in all, showing that each
and every line leads to a BRIGHT magnitude star (the BRIGHTEST in
whatever constellation it is pointing at RIGHT NOW), and every
one of those stars are DIRECTLY overhead over the tallest
mountain peaks in the world.
What does it mean? He doesn't know, but he shows you how you can
also test this. It is utterly astonishing. And, it is only
aligned in this manner for the next mere 100 years, a mere
eyeblink in astronomical time. There is not one major magnitude
star which is not so aligned, nor is there one major mountain
peak on earth missed with this alignment.
As above so below indeed!
Archeo-Astronomy - III
What fascinates me now is the parallel and ties with LDS
scriptures which
are coming forward in the new view of ancient history, what the
discipline
now called is Archeo-Astronomy.
As William Sullivan in his book "The Secret of the
Inca's" notes following
the lead of "Hamlet's Mill," The myths are descriptions
of celestial events.
This is the key to understanding. Myths are not, as conventional
scholarship
has tried to persuade us to believe, merely childish fantasy and
superstitious mumbo-jumbo of primitive minds having no conception
of
reality.
Another key to understanding myth is the realization that the
animals are
stars. We need to get this into our heads. The animals are STARS.
This is
not childish, but an apt description of celestial events in the
animal
stories we read about. In Egypt we have the crocodile, the
hippopotamus, the
phoenix bird, etc In the Andean Mountains we have the fox, the
tortoise, the
llama, etc. What about our own childhood stories? Is there
something
significant and locked away from our primitive minds in stories
such as
Goldilocks and the 3 BEARS? What about Little Red Riding Hood and
the WOLF?
To eat in ancient conceptions is an apt description of an eclipse
for
instance. Just why do we love Mother Goose so much? Granted they
are just,
to us that is, bedtime stories, but the ancients taught through
story. We
now have hints and clues from all around the world that what they
taught in
these stories was seriously sophisticated astronomical events,
eclipses,
precession of the equinoxes, the movement of constellations and
risings and
settings of stars, and even the Milky Way's flooding, not to
mention the
significant movements of the sun and moon. Might it be we who are
the
ignorant ones of the ancient ways of knowing?
Take Chicken Little screaming out "The sky is falling!"
Is this so childish?
We now know for a fact that the sky in ancient times actually did
FALL. This
is documented not only in ancient Mesoamerican sources, but in
ancient
Egyptian ones as well as other areas of our globe. And in our
very own Book
of Abraham we have THE clue as to the situation believe it or
not. Abraham
is told about the stars (surprise!) and then told the measurement
and
understanding of them is from the position of the earth upon
which THOU
standest. (Abr. 3:9)
Rand Flem-Ath's book "When the Sky Fell," discusses
several of these ancient
myths and describes how the crust of the earth can actually shift
all
together into different locations. FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE we see
the stars
fall from their courses, and the earth reel to and fro like a
drunken man.
D&C 1:35 says peace shall be taken from the earth. D&C 29
13 says a trump
shall blast both long and loud. Now were the earth's crust to
actually shift
in toto, the noise would be thunderously deafening as the ancient
sources so
aptly describe. It also says...now note this...note this well...
"ALL the
earth shall quake." This is not describing a localized
earthquake
whatsoever. It says ALL the earth here. Before the great day of
resurrection, the sun shall be darkened.. now were the entire
crust of the
earth to shift, the poles to exchange places (yes, it's happened
before) the
poles actually change places.. the dust and dirt in the air, the
horrific
winds would blacken our sky from our earth perspective, and this
would
darken the sun. The moon shall turn to blood....talk about a NEW
HEAVENS and
NEW earth.... And note this.. "the stars shall fall from
heaven." This is
not talking about comets or meteorites. This is the STARS....and
finally, my
last example... The ending of verse 13 literally says "and
there shall be
greater signs in heaven above, and in earth beneath."
How can there be GREATER signs than these?! And using the
Hermetic doctrine,
"As Above, so below" the Lord says this will be so.
Well, I have some
interesting speculation on this involving the post Book of Mormon
peoples
the Maya and their Long Count. Archeo-Astronomy has uncovered
something
astonishing.
John Major Jenkins phenomenal examination of the end of the Maya
Long Count
(Maya Cosmogenesis 2012) notes a most interesting thing everyone
is skipping
over entirely. We are in for a seriously RARE phenomena in our
Galaxy in the
next 11 years. For the first time in over 25,800 years, the
December
Solstice sun (Dec. 23, 2012) will be joined with the Milky Way
and
conjuncting the bright band of the Milky Way in 2012. The Milky
Way is a
bright band of stars we see edgewise, which is relatively thin at
the ends
and gets thicker toward the center, where astrophysicists believe
is a huge
black hole. This is the womb of creation in the Maya religion.
For the first
time in a rare event we will literally be connected to the womb
of our
cosmic mother. The ecliptic of the sun conjuncts with the Milky
Ways
galactic center (from OUR point of view on our earth) which cross
forms the
important symbol of the Tree of LIFE of Maya religion. The cross
in the sky
joins the womb of the creation in just 11 years. The actual stone
monuments
and calendars of the ancient Mesoamericans point to this time,
even though
they were built hundreds, and some even thousands of years ago.
This was the
grand summing up. This is the birth of the NEW HEAVENS and the
NEW EARTH for
Mayan religion. Our own LDS scriptures say in more general terms
that
magnificent things are going to happen in both the earth and sky.
In other
words, This is surely one of the very signs of the heavens, and
signs of our
times.
D&C 49:23 - the heavens shall be shaken and the earth to rell
to and fro
like a drunkard. The valleys shall be exalted. And mountains be
made low.
Smooth things to be made rough, and rough things to be made
smooth.
This is precisely what would happen were the earth's crust to
shift as
Charles Hapgood demonstrated. Albert Einstein, none other, found
Hapgood's
explanation to be incredibly fascinating and possible. It
startled him
enough to pay attention to it. Hapgood demonstrated how this
would account
for the ice ages, as well as the fhift of the poles, as well as
the
migration of the magnetic poles over hundreds of miles, as well
as the
tropical animals being frozen in the ice of the Arctic. Hapgood
is, true to
form, still ignored and pooh-poohed by the so-called
"scientific
establishment." They will simply have none of this nonsense
catastrophism
thank you. They believe (and say they KNOW) everything works
slowly and
methodically and "evolves""over vast eons of time.
Well, they are partly
correct. Things DO evolve gradually over time, but things also
click and go
drastically fast and crunches everything as well. The sky does
fall, and
floods do happen on planetary scales. Our own scriptures teach
this truth
above all else. Talk about a NEW Heaven and NEW earth! The
drastic changes
would alter river courses, lake locations, even the climate here
on earth.
If constellations were viewed from a different angle and
perspective as well
as location from earth, this would literally from our view, be a
NEW heaven.
In the Denderah Zodiac carved in ancient Egypt over 2500 years
ago there is
a ceiling depicting the constellations. It shows the sun on the
ecliptic
(the path of the sun through the zodiac). The wildly weird thing
about this
depiction is that there is a huge BUMP in the sun's ecliptic. And
more
interesting, Orion is directly below that bump holding it up with
his raised
hand. This is now understood to depict OUR DAY TODAY 2000-2100
A.D.! Orion,
right now, in our night sky, RIGHT NOW, is at his highest point
he will ever
be. From now on he will descend back down below the horizon in
the
precession. He has been rising to this high point for thousands
of years.
When the sun conjuncts with Orion on the ecliptic, the precession
will be
pointing directly
at the center of the Milky Way for the first time in over 25,800
years. This
is the END of the Maya Long Count in their astounding detailed
and extensive
calendar system, the end of the Fifth Sun as they called it. It
ALL
coincides in only 11 years. The spooky thing to realize is that
the sun
normally does not take a JUMP in its path as the Egyptian
calendar ceiling
depicts. What is it trying to say? Were the sun to jump like that
it would
absolutely be a cataclysm (the actually meaning of the word is
"deluge"),
because this would jolt everything we know about the heavens from
OUR
perspective. If it means the earth jumps or as the D&C says
"Reels to and
fro like a drunkard" , it would be a dis-aster (the meaning
of that word
means literally sundering of the stars), because from OUR
perspective, the
sky would fall. Either way, that bump is ominous, and is
happening right now
on astronomical scales of time. We are in the final restoration
of all
things according to or prophets.
This cosmological setting is what the BofAbr. Hints at, and the
Book of
Moses, and the D&C, and we literally are here. It is right
now. It is hard
to overexaggerate this folks. Within a mere 11 years, many of us
will
actually live through this conjunction. Now whether this triggers
all the
other signs of woe as the D&C describes, I can't say. But to
the Mayans,
this was both the ending of an era, a very long era, and the NEW
beginning.
Things both in heaven and in earth are what we are commanded to
study (D&C
88:79). We Mormons ought to be at the forefront of this
Archeo-Astronomy
research going on right now under our noses. We have been
commanded to do
so. You can see just some of the rather astonishing reasons and
signs for
why we ought to do it.
